Alpine Chalet 1819 is a beautiful 200 year old Savoyard farmhouse, which has been sympathetically restored and refurbished by local craftsmen, to create a luxury chalet which offers both fully catered & self-catering accommodation for 6 – 10 guests. Only the finest, natural materials have been used, showcasing beautiful woodwork, complemented by contemporary design elements, with wi-fi throughout.
The ground floor has a spacious open-plan feel, with both the living area and kitchen benefitting from exceptional views across the valley to the mountains beyond. There are comfy sofas around the antique wood-burning fire - a lovely environment in which to relax after a hard day’s skiing and enjoy a vin chaud or a hot chocolate. In the kitchen-dining area there is a farmhouse dining table that can easily seat all the guests, and a modern, bespoke kitchen which incorporates original wood detailing. The main lighting in these areas have been handmade by a local artisan and are totally unique, whilst keeping the feel of the farmhouse.
There are two en-suite double/twin bedrooms, with flat-screen TV’s and HDMI cables to attach computers or iPads. There are also contemporary and unique bedside lights designed and manufactured by one of Paris’s leading artisans.
Off the entrance hall is a family bathroom with a bath and shower – just the thing to relax tired and aching muscles after a hard day on the slopes.
A handmade wooden staircase leads up to the mezzanine floor and the third bedroom and TV/games snug. The bedroom sleeps four children, with the snug, which overlooks the living area, accommodating a further two if required. There is a large flat screen TV with HDMI cables, bean bags for gaming, and a convertible sofa.
SURROUNDING AREA
We are ideally situated for winter sports and recreational pursuits including skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, Nordic Walking, ice circuit driving, husky rides et al. The skiing is exceptional with Chatel linking directly with Morzine, Avoriaz, and the rest of the immense Portes du Soleil area. With La Chappelle d’Abondance offering the nearest entry to the Portes du Soleil 15 minutes drive, and Abondance with it’s own ski area being 10 minutes distant, winter sports participation is simple. If a day’s rest is needed, Montreux, with its famous Christmas Market, and superb shopping is just over an hour away. Evian, famous for the spa and waters, is close by, with Geneva and all it has to offer an hour’s drive.
We are ideally situated for summer pursuits including the Fantasticable (not for the faint hearted!), white water rafting, an internationally renowned mountain biking area, Nordic Walking, the many beaches of Lac Leman where one can swim, paddle board etc. Yvoire, a stunning medieval village, is less than an hour away, Evian is also close by, with Montreux, home of the world famous jazz festival, just over an hour’s drive away.
