Please Note: This is a brand-new construction home situated on a recently cleared, fully fenced in lot with freshly seeded grass that has yet to take root. While we look forward to welcoming our canine guests very soon, please leave your pups at home for now to allow our lawn to establish. Rest assured, the interior of the home and all outdoor amenities (except the lawn) are ready for your enjoyment. We trust, with careful attention, our yard will be fully ready to be enjoyed in the spring of 2026.

If you're still reading, I wanted to share a private note. This Escape is literally a culmination of a decade's worth of dreams and experience. 10 years ago I had a dream and through much grit and let's be honest, stubbornness, I purchased and opened my very first vacation renal on Topsail Island. My only goal was to own my very own Oceanfront Escape and to share it with others to help offset the costs. I named her the Bliss Escape as that is what I was seeking. Bliss. At the time, my boys were 6 and 9 and I had left my corporate career when my youngest was born and I felt adrift. I needed a purpose and I had a deep passion for design and creating core memories. In 2018 I had owned 3 oceanfronts on Topsail Island and devastatingly, all 3 were severely damaged by hurricane Florence. Bliss (and Grace, her sister) were repaired and put back into service within a few months, but we almost lost Zen. That experience took a severe toll on me and we decided to sell Bliss and Grace in 2019. Bliss is synonym of the meaning of my first name and has always held a very special place in my heart, and I had retired the Bliss Escape in my soul. Over the last 7 years I turned curating and designing and hosting unique and exceptional experiences into my full time career. I have carefully assembled a small but mighty portfolio of homes into the NCEscapes portfolio of luxury North Carolina vacation rentals. I own half and half and I manage the other half for my owner clients who share in my vision of exceptional guest experiences. In 2024 my heart tugged at me to create an amenity-heavy small home perfect for solo travelers and couples to escape the trials and tribulations of life and to be able to enjoy all the luxuries that large vacation rental homes provide in a tiny, but mighty, package built for 1-2 adults.
In the last quarter of 2024, I found a lot in Mount Airy and I felt it was the perfect location - less than 3 hours from almost every major city in North Carolina and within walking distance of a thriving and growing small town downtown that exudes charm, character and nostalgia for a simpler happier time. I envisioned a small space that had every luxury and detail you normally have to book a very large home to get. I wanted solo and couple travelers to experience all of those things without having to rent a home 3-4x the size than they needed. The Bliss Escape (2.0) is literally the culmination of a lifetime's of work and a decade's worth of hosting and design experience into a custom designed and built retreat. I could not find house plans that matched the vision I had. So I literally took to graph paper. Don't worry - my father is an almost retired contractor and master carpenter (he keeps coming out of pseudo retirement for me) and I have been on constructions sites for almost 4 decades. As this project evolved, I was called to revisit BLISS as a full circle moment after a decade in this industry. Bliss is synonymous with happiness and contentment and that is exactly what my first name means. I want to offer to you, my guest, an opportunity to experience contentment and to Escape our every day world - that can sometimes be filled with struggle and pain. I am the owner, the designer, the visionary and your host. I have literally designed this home from the ground up and personally chosen every detail down to the last spoon. I have decided to anoint her the Bliss Escape (2.0) in a full circle moment of my present career and dreams. I chose a peacock theme because I have always been attracted to those colors finding the beauty in their rich grandeur and moodiness but also for the symbolism of the peacock: prosperity, beauty, renewal and growth.
I know this is far more detail than most people want when they book a home for a few night's respite, but if you're still reading, I wanted you to know that you're booking more than lodging, you're booking the culmination of my 48 years worth of dreams, work and experience. I have over 1000 five star reviews across my portfolio across all platforms. I truly care about the guest experience and take it very seriously.
Is this home perfect? no. Sadly, I live 2.5 hours away and have children and couldn't be here every single day of construction. There are some things that fall into the category of, as my dad affectionally loves to say ,"too late". But - I promise, my less-than-perfect execution will far exceed even the most discerning of guests.
