Summary:
Stay in an original homestead cabin and piece of high desert history with panoramic views of the mountains and tilted plains. The B’iltmore Bunkhouse is as versatile as it is charming, it can sleep up to 2, providing a lovely sanctuary for an individual or couple. While you have your private space, there will likely be multiple guests staying in other units on this property.
The Space:
Depending on when you are here, spend your evening gazing at the brilliant starry sky or bathe in the intense desert moonlight that turns night to day. A beautiful wall of adobe and bottles surround a cozy fire pit where you can snuggle up around a fire on cool evenings (note: you must bring your own wood).You may want to curl up in the hammock and dream of other worlds, or sip port beside a fire in the great room. The weather in the high desert is cooler than in Palm Springs, only 40 miles away in the low desert. Fall is delightful with warm days and cool evenings. Winter is a wonderful time to do outdoor activities that might be too strenuous for very warm days. The spring season is glorious with the desert bloom. And… the sun is almost always shining.
This cabin is completely private from the rest of the premises with its own kitchen and living room (the kitchen has a hot plate). You are more than welcome to use the shared spaces in the Desert Lily where there is a full kitchen and living area as well.
There is a bedroom on the main floor (the upstairs is not accessible).
Guest Access:
The cabin is fully equipped, however guests will also have access to the main residence (kitchen, dining room, fireplace) as well as the outdoor patio, fire pit, pool and lounge areas. This area is SHARED with other guests and listings.
The shared kitchen is fully equipped. This means you can use the fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, stove, we provide coffee and tea and you are welcome to use the spices that are in the pantry for preparing your meals.
Make yourself at Home, just please remember to clean up after yourselves!
- Respect: Our neighbors are very nice folks, and we enjoy the quiet and harmonious environment together. Please do not party and/or cause loud noises to help us maintain this peaceful environment. This home is very loved. Please treat it with respect, and it will respect you. 9pm quiet hours in the desert! This is strictly enforced. If you foresee this being a problem for you, we'd kindly ask that you please consider another home. We take great care in being respectful to our neighbors.
- Trash Disposal
You will find trash bags in the cabinet under the sink of the kitchen. When the trashcan is full, please remove the trash bag and take it to trash bin in front of the house (when you head out of the driveway, the road forks - go to the left and you'll find the bins at the end of the driveway). Trash gets picked up by the county every Tuesday.
- Parties or Events
We do not allow guests to throw parties or events in our home. Quiet Hours in the neighborhood start at 9pm. Again, this will be strictly enforced. If you're looking to party or consistently make loud noise, this will not be the house for your group.
- Smoking
The home is a non-smoking environment. Please smoke outside and dispose of your cigarettes in the trash. We appreciate your cooperation!
- Fire pit
There is an outdoor fire pit area. if you would like to use it, please plan to bring your own firewood and make sure this is the only area you light fires in and keep it under control. The desert is VERY dry and fires can go up in an INSTANT. The area is also very windy and as such fires can travel at incredible speeds here.
- EV charging:
We have 2 Tesla EV charging stations that you are welcome to use. Note: bring your own adapter if you have an EV plug that is not Tesla.
Pool/ Spa:
If you'd like the pool/ spa heated, this is possible though please note it is an additional cost because propane is really expensive in the desert.
**note: we cannot guarantee heating the pool/ spa! And we will not discount stays for the heater not working so please check before booking**
Note: the hot tub that is attached to the house is private and not accessible to you.
The Neighborhood:
The Desert Lilly is minutes from downtown Joshua Tree and minutes from the park entrance!
Getting Around:
We recommend bringing your own car to get around as there are no public transportation options.
Other Things to Note:
Pets are not permitted
While you have your private space, there will likely be multiple guests staying in other units on this property. Please be respectful of common spaces!
