Escape to the woods for a relaxing retreat. Or, get outside and enjoy the country. Just steps away from downhill ski slopes or cross country skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, etc. Located in the Sun-kissed Hills south of Buffalo, the chalet is roughly 40 minutes from downtown Buffalo spots such as Canalside, Shea's Theater, Albright Knox Gallery, Frank Lloyd Wright Martin House, etc; 26 minutes from the Buffalo Bills' Highmark Stadium; and about an hour from Niagara Falls or Letchworth State Park. You can see the slopes of Kissing Bridge ski resort from the front yard and they also offer mountain bike trails in the warm seasons and 4x4 trail rides for off-road vehicles like Jeeps and Land Rovers. Sprague Brook park is directly across our quiet street from the house, you can toss a stone into the park's forest from the front yard and the entry to it's 20+ mile bike and hike trail is directly opposite the yard, not to mention the Rails-to-Trails trailhead right near by. Many of our guests like to hike the Eternal Flame trail that's also in the immediate area. Shopping is available within roughly 15 minutes in either Springville, NY or East Aurora, NY. We're dog friendly and there are plenty of doggie related activities nearby, including the afore mentioned Sprague Brook (there's even places for dogs to swim), plus a great dog park and walking trails at Knox Farm in East Aurora. If nothing else, just a walk around our cozy, private, alpine themed neighborhood is worth the trip for a weekend getaway.
This is a cabin with a well. The water does have a sulphur odor and can seem strange at first to those who aren't used to well water. It's completely potable, is connected to multiple filtration systems to improve the quality, and was inspected by the County Health Dept for safety. I do still leave some drinking water for guests and, if you're not familiar with well water, it's not a bad idea to bring extra water for drinking and cooking.
There is a J1772 level 2 EV charger for guest use. It's only a 16amp connector from my old Chevy Volt, so it won't be blazing fast. However, that cord does plug in to a NEMA 14-50 240V outlet on a 50 amp breaker, which is compatible with many EV charging cords. If you would like to use that plug with your own car's charging cord, that can be done but you MUST let me know before arrival if you want to to that.
Both TVs feature guest Rokus. You'll be able to log in to your favorite streaming services and be automatically logged out on your selected checkout date.
The coffee maker is a Keurig. The minerals in my well water make it so the Keurig would have to be cleaned constantly if I used the well water, so only distilled water is to be used to make coffee. I always leave a few of my favorite kCups and a gallon or two of distilled water for guests. But, if you're a heavy coffee drinker, you may want to bring along extra kCups and distilled water; and if you like adding things to your coffee, you'll want to bring along cream & sugar.
Please note that this home is pet-friendly plus my dogs have lived here with me for years and still do when I'm here. We, of course, do our very best to clean the place top to bottom for every guest. But, if you have a severe allergy or sensitivity to pets and pet fur, you may want to consider another option.
